- EN 287 / ISO 9606 certification — adds 20–30% to your base rate
- Specialisation — stainless steel, duplex, super duplex welding pays more than mild steel
- High-pressure piping experience — significantly higher demand and pay
- Language skills — basic local language or English helps with better contracts
- Agency vs direct contract — direct contracts usually pay 10–15% more
Take-Home Pay (After Tax)
In most European countries, you keep 65–75% of your gross salary after income tax and social contributions. In Norway and Denmark, deductions can be higher but the gross rates compensate for it.
Example — Finland: A certified pipefitter earning 20 €/h, working 40h/week, takes home approximately 2,600–3,000 € per month after tax.
